Fun With Code Names

On a whim, I just looked through all the various header files in the Palm OS SDK and in SDKs released by the different licensees. From this, I've compiled a list of codenames used for released Palm OS devices... this isn't comprehensive, but it does mention many of the major devices.

(HAL refers to Hardware Abstraction Layer -- its the layer of the OS between all the calls that programmers use and the actual hardware registers.)

Jerry: Palm VII HAL
Rocky: Pilot, PalmPilot, Palm III HAL
Sumo: Palm IIIx/V/Vx HAL
Austin: Palm IIIc HAL (short for "Austin Powers"?)
Calvin: Palm m100, m105 HAL
Touchdown: Early name for Pilot 1000/5000
JerryEZ: Later Palm VII, all Palm VIIx's
Eleven: Palm VII (reference to "Spinal Tap")
Brad: Palm IIIx
Razor: Palm V
Cobra: Palm Vx
Tornado: Palm m500
Emerald City: Palm m505
Skywalker: Palm i705

Thumper: Qualcomm PDQ phone (has become Kyocera)

Cessna: never released Motorola Palm OS phone

Phoenix: Samsung SPH-I300

Lego: Handspring Visor
Slinky: Handspring Visor Deluxe (?)
Gumby: Handspring VisorPhone
Slinky: Handspring Visor
Belle: Handspring Visor Edge (???)
Manhattan: Handspring Treo 180
Shea: Handspring Treo 180g

CFlash: TRGpro HAL
Nomad: TRGpro
StarKist: HandEra 330

Pda1Mono: Sony CLIE PEG-S300
Pda1Color: Sony CLIE PEG-S500C
