Palm OS Dev FAQ

Decoding Errors and Doing Demos

Today, I'm deferring to fellow developer John Marshall, of PRC-Tools fame. He's got a great page at http://prc-tools.sourceforge.net/errorcodes.html that explains Palm OS error codes, has an online form for decoding a random code, and provides a handheld application for turning error code values into more useful text, even overriding the SysErrString API call.

Palm OS Demo Contest

There's a new demo programming contest for all you hard-core programmers out there. To quote the press release:

MobileWizardry in association with the Handheld Media Group Inc. and Palm Nordic announce the first demo coding competition for the Palm OS(r) Platform. Developers all around the world are invited to program "demos" - to show off their technical and artistic skills; aimed specifically for an embedded system as available in the Palm m505 handheld device.

Full details are available on the MobileWizardry website at www.mobilewizardry.com. Metrowerks is one of the sponsors, with copies of CodeWarrior for Palm OS available as some of the secondary prizes. Categories include 256b, 1K, and 4K demos and the wide-open unlimited category.

New POSE 3.5 Posted

Keith Rollin indicated that POSE 3.5, the latest version of the Palm OS Emulator, was now online at http://www.palmos.com/dev/tools/emulator/. This release fixes a few small bugs in 3.4 and adds support for the Palm m130, m515, and i705 devices.
