PalmSource 2002, Day 5

Palm OS Emulator

Version 3.4 will be posted very soon. Grelimins minimization will help you figure out why crashes occur by finding the smallest set of events that can reproduce a crash. POSE 3.5 will be out soon with support for m125 and i705 devices. POSE 4.0 will include ARM support and be able to run Palm OS 5. ARM emulation will be a lot slower than 68K emulation, due to faster processor speed of ARM chips and increased instruction count.

Effective C++ Development with CodeWarrior Tools

This was my talk. I'll try to post the PowerPoint slides to a separate story tomorrow. Key points: CodeWarrior will be there in the move to ARM, with our own tools for both PACE and native code. We have a new C++ class library that will be bundled with our tools. You can use C++ effectively.

Winners of the Developer Challenge

A large number of awards, at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum level. John Marshall won a Gold award for an ARM-enabled Mandelbrot generator, while I'll got the Platinum "Most Twisted Native Code Hack" award for my Minimize Hack for the Palm OS Simulator.
