Stuff I Like: Memory Hog
PalmSource 2002 has a competition at the show for developers to write an app that somehow uses the phrase "640K (of memory) should be enough for anybody". I was thinking of writing an app for the PalmSource that acted like the Stress program on Win32, eating memory space to let you see how your application dealt with out-of-memory situations. Of course, the default would be to just leave you with 640K of memory.
Well, it looks like I'll need another idea. Today's Stuff I Like entry is a simple program from Quantum Clockwork called Memory Hog. Its a free application with a very simple user interface. It eats memory, requiring a reset to free up the space.
One good way to use this would be together with gremlins. If your application uses storage space for a database, then eat almost all the space then start gremlins on your application and see how it deals with the error return codes. I'm sure you could think of lots of other uses (sabotage of an enemy's Palm OS device when they aren't looking is considered mean).
