Palm Tungsten T (m550): First Impressions
I just got my Tungsten T in about an hour ago, and I've already fallen in love with it. It is a more traditional Palm OS device, keeping with the standard Palm OS metaphors, but at the same time expanding the scope. The new icons are very tasteful and nicely coordinated, and I really like the slider, as it makes the device a lot smaller. I'll write more about this device after I've had a few days with it.
VFSMark and the Palm Tungsten T (m550)
As I did for the Sony NX70V, here are the results of VFSMark 1.1
File Create: 142%
File Delete: 102%
File Write: 42%
File Read: 124%
File Seek: 256%
DB Export: 61%
DB Import: 306%
Record Access: 249%
Resource Access: 235%
VFSMark: 168
Not too bad, although write speed suffers similar to how writes suffered on the NX70. Perhaps this is due to the PACE layer, or maybe its the speed of the media. Again, Palm OS 5 shows great horsepower in handling pulling data out of the file system with the Record and Resource access tests.
