I went searching earlier tonight for more information on the Zire. The result: a dump of the 'psys'-defined features. The names correspond to constants defined in SystemMgr.h.

  1: sysFtrNumROMVersion 0x04103000 (4.1 release)
  2: sysFtrNumProcessorID 0x00020000 (sysFtrNumProcessorEZ)
  3: sysFtrNumBacklight n/a
  4: sysFtrNumEncryption 1 (sysFtrNumEncryptionMaskDES)
  5: sysFtrNumCountry 17
  6: sysFtrNumLanguage 0
  7: sysFtrNumDisplayDepth 1
  8: sysFtrNumHwrMiscFlags 0x00005A4A
        hwrMiscFlagHasMbdIrDA
        hwrMiscFlagHasBurrBrown
        hwrMiscFlagHas3vRef
        hwrMiscFlagHasSWContrast
        hwrMiscFlagHasMiscFlagExt
  9: sysFtrNumHwrMiscFlagsExt 0x00000110
        hwrMiscFlagExtHasLiIon
        hwrMiscFlagExt115KIrOK
10: sysFtrNumIntlMgr 1
11: sysFtrNumEncoding 3
12: sysFtrDefaultFont 0
13: sysFtrDefaultBoldFont 7
14: sysFtrNumGremlinsSupportGlobals n/a
15: sysFtrNumVendor n/a
16: sysFtrNumCharEncodingFlags 1
17: sysFtrNumNotifyMgrVersion 1
18: sysFtrNumOEMROMVersion n/a
19: sysFtrNumErrorCheckLevel 1
20: sysFtrNumOEMCompanyID 0x50616C6D ('Palm')
21: sysFtrNumOEMDeviceID 0x43756273 ('Cubs')
22: sysFtrNumOEMHALID 0x45437562 ('ECub')
23: sysFtrNumDefaultCompression n/a
24: sysFtrNumWinVersion 1
25: sysFtrNumAccessorTrapPresent n/a

The features whose values are "n/a" were not set at all.

As for prefs, the system prefs version is #9, and nothing was too surprising. Hard keys 3 and 4 were set to 'todo' and 'npad'. The calc key was set to 'sync'. This indicates that the system is doing something special for launching HotSync via the "favorites" button. I confirmed this by assigning HotSync to the Address Book button, and it just launched it as a normal app, not as a sync session.
