PalmSource 2002: A Quick Review

Lots of raw text here to digest, but here were the highlights of the show:

  • Talking to lots of really bright developers
  • Seeing Palm OS running on five different ARM boards
  • The drum machine hack contest winner
  • Tick Tock, the Myst-like game shown in Michael Mace's keynote, with hi-res graphics and sound all streamed off a memory stick
  • Being trounced 7-0 by Roger Flores at air hockey
  • Nerf bombardment of the AppForge blimp
  • Discovering that the native call documentation for the Simulator had left out the much-needed NUL character
  • Carrying around three Palm OS devices and feeling inadequate
  • Almost falling asleep during the IMAX film "Destiny in Space"
  • Seeing Sonic the Hedgehog and the CodeWarrior IDE highlighted in the Sega announcement demo
