Stuff I Like: Debug Prefs and DotDotTwo
Here's a quick one, but very useful. If you're programming with a Visor device and using a serial connection to connect to it, you need to get DebugPrefs, a small program available from Handspring's developer site. This lets you change the default debugger connection to the serial port, which means you don't have to hold down the up key when starting the debugger anymore. You can get this from http://www.handspring.com/developers/sw_dev.jhtml; it is down in the "Code Samples" part of the page.
In a similar vein, you should build the DotDotTwo example in the Palm OS SDKs. This simple program should be a staple on any device you use for programming. It does two simple things. First, when it is run, your device enters console mode and is ready to connect to the debugger. Second, it has a big button that will do a soft reset of your device, which can be useful for cleaning up after programs that misbehave. In the CWPalm 8 installation, you can find this in the "(CodeWarrior Examples)\Palm OS 4.0 SDK Examples\DotDotTwo" folder.
